Restrict Access to Custom Variables when using icingadb

When using Icinga web2 and the monitoring module, you can restrict access to custom Variables as described here: Restrict Custom Variables - Icinga Web
Can you define similar restrictions when using the icingadb module and disabling the monitoring module? I don’t find anything similar in the web gui.
