Recovery Notifications After Icinga Connectivity Issue

Hello All,

Sometime due to icinga connectivity issue i receive an unknown alert and later i receive recovery mail for the same when the connection is re-established.

I would like to know if there is a way to determine if the recovery has been received after Icinga connectivity issue or real issue?

Is there any parameter in icinga which can fetch this status?

Thanks

Hello All,

Sometime due to icinga connectivity issue i receive an unknown alert

Yes, that means that the current state of the service check is unknown to
Icinga, because it cannot contact the thing being checked.

later i receive recovery mail for the same when the connection is
re-established.

That tells you that connectivity has been restored, so the state is no longer
“unknown”.

I would like to know if there is a way to determine if the recovery has
been received after Icinga connectivity issue or real issue?

Icinga cannot tell if a genuine problem occurs during the time that Icinga is
unable to contact the thing being checked.

Hello @Pooh:

Yes icinga cannot notify if genuine problem occurs when the server loses connectivity to icinga server. I understand that.

But my question is to find if there is any difference between recovery mail that is received after connectivity issue and the recovery mail that is received after real issue?

This is help us to filter recovery mails that is received post agent connectivity issue.

Thanks

You can identify the previous service state with $service.last_state$ and if
this is “Unknown” send a different message from “OK”, “Warning” or “Critical”.
