Question: use icingadb for director?

  • Icinga Web 2 version and modules (System - About): icingadb-web v1.0.2-1
  • Icinga 2 version (icinga2 --version): r2.13.7-1
  • Operating System and version: ubuntu server 22.04 lts
  • Webserver, PHP versions: apache, php 8.1.2

Hey everyone,

I am currently setting up an icinga monitoring in our office. Pretty straight forward, one node cluster, nothing special. Just a few devices (less than 50 to monitor).

I want to use icinga director too, so i followed the official documents Ubuntu - Icinga Director.

There it is mentioned to create an own database for director. I first made a mistake and I choose the “icingadb” (the one that icinga2 is using) for the director module in the web view.

So far it seems to work - will this cause any trouble in future? Or should I revert my configurations and go for an own database for director?

Thanks everyone in advance,

Just my 2 cents: choose an own db. the core and the director are two independent parts.
