Network device status monitoring via SNMP / suppress service related problems

Hi there,

We use “check_snmp” plugin to monitoring network devices via SNMP. We use this plugin to monitor SNMP agent availability (“network_device_uptime”) and to get performance data (e.g. in/out traffic, device location, memory usage, etc.). We use “network_device_uptime” service to generate “Device is unreachable via SNMP” problem. It works as expected if device is reachable via SNMP. If device isn’t reachable via SNMP we are getting problems for “network_device_uptime” service and all of the performance related SNMP checks (i.e. in/out traffic, device location, memory usage, etc.).

If device is unreachable via SNMP I would like to generate problem for “network_device_uptime” service only. Can I reconfigure “check_snmp” plugin (or Icinga) to generate unknown status for all of the performance related Icinga services? Is there any way to suppress or correlate them?

Best regards.
