Monitor status an flapping interface

Hi, I need is if there is any possibility to monitor when the specific port is up or down, or when there is any flapping with the optical signal, using ICINGA.

which transport would you use (SNMP, something else)?
Which device (vendor, type, version) is in question here?

About vemdors I need for cisco and mikrotik.

then you’d need to look into vendor specific MIBs, or find a suitable plugin on https://exchange.icinga.com for interface checks. I’m not sure if its possible to monitor a flapping interface directly from such a plugin, Icinga as core has such a detection which can be enabled (and supressing notifications therefore).

The docs also provide a list of possible plugins, check_nwc_health would be a good candidate to try, with the bonus of already having a CheckCommand available in Icinga’s template library.
