IcingaForWindows migration to the new server

Hello,

I am new to the Icinga community and i am hooping here is the right place for my question. We are running icinga repository on Win 2016 and i want to migrate to Win 2022. What is the wright way to do it??

In what kind of Sense you want to migrate it ? It is a Shared Folder on a Windows Machine you can simply copy the complete Folder to the new Machine and set it again to be a shared folder …

The most complicated point is that those machines accessing the “new” Location would need to be updated about it in the ifw settings where to find the repository.

Or did i get the question wrong ?

Regards

David

Hello David

So i need to juist copy C:\inetpub\IcingaForWindowsRepo and C:\ProgramData\icinga2 to the new server, and replace the old server with the new in config files of zones en ifw right?

Well No. I thought you just wanted to migrate the “Repository” that would have been just a c&p of the repo folder und set it to a fileshare again.

There is no way to migrate the ifw. In this case i would recommend a fresh install of the ifw framework on the new machine.

Since it’s a new Machine it would also need to create new certificates for the ifw.

The only time saving i can think of would be if you saved the install command with all the settings beforehand during the previous installation and re-use that with adjustments.

Since it is the repo not the framework:
