Icinga2 upgrade assistance

Hi All,

I need little bit of guidance on best practice for my upgrade. My current setup:

  • master1.domain.com → Centos 7 → IC2 2.13.7 (holds config)
  • master.2.domain.com → Centos 7 → IC2 2.13.7 (sync config)
  • Around 25 Endpoints connecting to zone master (2 x members)
  • Separate IC2 Web Server
  • Icinga2DB version 1.1.0 (mysql database on external host)
  • IcingaRedis version 7.0.5 running on both masters
  • I’m also using CA on my masters to sign new certificates.

Can you share best way to replace both of these Centos 7 master servers? I want to avoid jumping through all my Endpoints and ex. adding another master server (ex. master3) to zone there and do it that way.

Also is all this CA inside the database or there is some guide how to move that to new server?

Many thanks
D

Thanks for your post. Actually, there is currently another active thread with a very similar topic. Please take a look at https://community.icinga.com/t/i-need-to-upgrade-centos7-to-rhel-v9/13890.

Please don’t try to add another master node, as the master-master-replication only allows two nodes.

Please refer to the documentation’s backup section, as @log1c did in the mentioned thread above. The CA as well as other backup- or migration-worthy files should reside within /var/lib/icinga2.

Many thanks will review and come back if any questions ! For now marking as resolved as after Quick Look very helpful informations.

Thanks
D
