I need to set up dependencies so that if a server goes down we get 1 alert that the server is down, not 30 alerts that every service on the server is down + the server is down. can someone help?
There is already an implicit dependency for services on their host. So It needs the host to be the first to reach a hard non-ok state which requires some tweaking of check_interval, retry_interval and max_check_attempts so it should work. Reason for this is that because of Icinga 2’s distributed nature there are no on-demand checks like it was with Icinga 1 and Nagios to ensure this.
