How to Resolve Icinga Alerts with Missing Dependencies

Hello everyone,

I’ve made great strides with Icinga monitoring to keep an eye on my infrastructure, and it has worked quite well for the most part, but I keep having an issue related to missing dependencies that is preventing the alerts from firing.

The other day, I noticed that some services were not properly monitored and the system was not alerting on failures. As I began to dig into what specifically was happening, I discovered that Icinga did not have the plugins/dependencies needed to perform some of the required checks, however, when I try to install or update them manually, I’m receiving error messages and they still are not installed.

Here is what I’ve done so far:

Reran the plugin installation commands.

Checked the configuration files to ensure that it is looking for files in the correct path.

Made sure the version of Icinga I’m using is the latest version.

Could this be a case of the way I have the dependencies setup or a better way to ensure all of the required plugins are linked accordingly? Now that I have almost finished the alteryx training dealing with data workflows, I am wondering if there is a way to integrate Icinga monitoring with Alteryx to automate data reports or alerts?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best,
williamclark

Hi @williamclark, it depends completely on which plugins are in question here since they are separate programs from the Icinga components itself. Could give us some information about what and how it is malfunctioning? Context is key here
