Error when clicking "Check Now"

I just installed icinga and icingaweb and im getting this error when I click “check now” on any host or service

“icinga2: Failed to connect to localhost port 5665: Connection refused.”

all of my resources validate successfully so I’m not sure why I’m getting the error.

let me know what else I can provide to help debug my issue.

It is not a resource, but instead it is the backend configuration at Configuration > Modules, select monitoring and on the tab backend. There an Icinga endpoint with an ApiUser is configured which is used by Icinga Web 2 to send commands to Icinga 2.
