Disable Host check command

Hi,

Currently we have “hostalive” check command for hosts. I want to disable the host check command completely. How do I do that? Please advise.

I changed the check-command to “dummy” with no parameters. But I would like to disable the host check command itself.

  1. I do not believe this is possible. A host has to have some state or
    other, and if it’s not “up” then Icinga will report it as a problem.

  2. What was wrong with the workaround you tried, of setting the check command
    to “dummy”? In what way was that insufficient?

I’ve “ping” service setup which is good enough I think. The “dummy” check is attempted for every host every 5 mins so just want to avoid this overhead.
