Deployment of Hosts via Director

Hi:) I am currently working on intregrating Icinga into our Company. Its my first project and i do not have a lot of knowledge regarding linux and systems such as Icinga. So now i basically configured everything as in the main tutorial and i can access IcingaWeb without any problems. Now i looked at the Icinga Director Setup Walktrough and i did everything as shown.

This is the deplyoment log!
I blacked out the fqdn, and ip adresses but if you need any more information to help me out, I am happy to deliver!
Any idea why i cant actually create a Host, or even ping a host?
I am grateful for any help and I am sorry if there is already a solution i looked everywhere and even used ChatGPT which was not helpful at all!
Thank you in advance

You need to set Icinga2 Agent of that host object to yes.

Hello, thank you for answering so quickly:)

I tried that but I still get this

This is a Host Configuration i made:

And this is one of my Templates:

I tried that, i even changed it in the template and in Host i tried out activating the icinga2Agent only and i tried out activating the other options such as accept configuration and cluster zone. I posted my configurations below:)

In my API.conf it says false, is it possible that this is the problem?
If so how do i fix it? Because the feature is enabled!

No, that’s another topic.

It’s difficult to help here since you have redacted details (BTW: you missed that at your second screenshot on the top). I’d assume you use capital letter(s) within you host name and this will not work for Windows machines.

I appreciate the help anyway, and i will try to change the capital letters! Thank you

Hi i changed the capital letters to normal for the fqdn normal name. Now my icinga2 wont start and is stating that there is a problem in the api config. Apparently its in etc/icinga2/features-enabled/api.conf(5): object ApiListener “api” . Any Idea?

I don’t know what you are doing. Changing the hostname in the director does not have any impact on service (re)start.

The problem is that i dont know what im doing myself! So i just took an older snapshot and everything is back to normal. I still want to ask you one question because i get this:

Whenever i am trying to check the status of icinga2. Hope i explained correctly

The API Config looks like this

I dont see anything wrong

You need to check icinga2.log. I’d assume you have a certificate error.
