I have a little problem with my notifications. The notification starts a phyton script which sent the hostname, status and message to an other system. Some special character (ö,ü,ä,ß …) are changed. The administrator from the other system ask me which codepage I use. Can someone help me to ask this question?

I think a good start would be to check
a) which codepage is configured on your system - use locale
b) which encoding has your script - use file -bi [filename]
