Activating Icinga director: I found no Endpoint object on localhost:5665 (KickstartHelper.php:360)

I’m completely new to Icinga and sorry, if this is explained somewhere - and I just didn’t find it with my search terms.

  • Director version (System - About):1.8.1
  • Icinga Web 2 version and modules (System - About): 2.6.2
  • Icinga 2 version (icinga2 --version): r2.10.3-1
  • Operating System and version: Raspbian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
  • Webserver, PHP versions: Apache/2.4.38 (Raspbian), PHP 7.3.29-1~deb10u1

So, after i finished installation of icinga2 including icinga2web, I activated director and wanted to insert the “kickstart assistant” with the credentials from /etc/icinga2/conf.d/api-users.conf. After “Start Import” I get the following error message:

        I found no Endpoint object called "icingadirector" on localhost:5665 (KickstartHelper.php:360)

What is the issue here? thanks!

The endpoint name given to the kickstart config has to be exactly the same as the name for the config master endpoint.
You finde this either in /etc/icinga2/zones.conf in the Endpoint object or /etc/icinga2/constants.conf as NodeName variable.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Now I understand the “zones” concept, also.
