Upgrading Icinga2 question

Hi,

Say I have this one legacy icinga2 server in one end which looks like this.

icinga2 -V
icinga2 - The Icinga 2 network monitoring daemon (version: r2.4.1-1)

2.0.2.sql 2.1.0.sql 2.2.0.sql 2.3.0.sql 2.4.0.sql

Now, does this mean that I cannot upgrade because there is no 2.7.0.sql upgrade file there?

Thanks,

You will be able to upgrade but will need to obtain the latest versions of the IDO and Icinga2 and upgrade each individual version in order.

The latest version is not 2.7 but 2.10.4 so there might be several SQL updated you will need to do.

Hi,

take also a look at the upgrading docs.

Hi,

SQL upgrade files are purely optional, and not every release has them. We didn’t touch the IDO schema for various reasons since 2.8 IIRC and as such, you’ll only need to apply what’s > 2.4.0.sql in that directory.

Cheers,
Michael

Well, that´s the point, the highest upgrade file is 2.4.0 and i am already on that version, so, how do I go higher, do i need the the newer sql upgrade files?

The upgrade files are part of the icinga2-ido-mysql package. So you will have to update your pacakges, then apply the sql files and after that restart Icinga 2.

One thing to keep in mind: Ubuntu 14.04 is EOL next month.
Also I’m not sure if all current versions are available for Ubuntu14.04. At least IcingaWeb2 stopped at 2.4.2 because of a php dependency issue.

2.10.4 is available for Ubuntu 14. I’m 99% sure that 2.11 won’t be available for it though when released later this year.
