It seems the upgrade is fairly straightforward.. just requiring the icinga2/icingaweb2 pkgs update on Ubuntu 24.04. I may have to update the 24.04 kernel from .78 to .138 before I upgrade Icinga2 pkgs. AFAIK, there is no sql update required. Upgrade on Masters first and then satellites. Am I right? Is there anything I need to besides the changes? any gotchas?
I’ve two Masters and a few satellites zones in the cluster. No Icinga2 agent is being used
once Icinga2 gets updated, my next plan is to upgrade to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.. Does 2.16.5 certified to work with 26.04?
When switching from 2.15.1 to 2.16.5, you will passe 2.16.2, where the new filter-expression permission was added[1]. In most setups, this has no effect. However, a warning will be logged. In case you are not doing any advanced permission filters for ApiUsers, there is nothing to do. Otherwise, you should read this section carefully[1:1].
There should be no kernel change Icinga 2 or any Icinga component requires. But, updating the kernel is a good idea nevertheless.
The IDO in Icinga 2 is deprecated and will be removed in 2.18[2]. So, I would highly recommend switching to Icinga DB. In case you are already using Icinga DB, please consult its upgrading docs[3].
This sounds right, yes!
Ubuntu 26.04 is an officially supported distribution.
