Problems with upgrading icinga 2.10.5 to 2.11 on FreeBSD

I tried yesterday to upgrade my icinga2. I run it on FreeBSD 11.3-p3 and it is currently on version 2.10.5.
After the upgrade “icinga2 daemon -C” doesn’t show any errors. But when I start the service, it starts and then exits pretty much immediately without any error messages. There are also no errors in the debug log.
I see that it sets already some checks to failed because of dependency fails and then the last message I see iseither :

I read the upgrading FAQ but nothing really fits to my setup. Any ideas how I could debug this further?

when I disable the feature api it seems to work.

After rerunning api setup, the startup failed because the root-user was defined in the global-templates and in conf.d. And the api setup added conf.d/api-users.conf
After fixing that, icinga2 worked until I tried to send a notification. That crashed it:
