I recently found out that more and more windows laptops are shipped with arm processors.
So I did a little bit of digging and there is a windows 11 iso for arm so I was wondering can I run it on my Mac?
so I created a VM using UTM and installed Windows 11 on my Macbook M4.
Windows 11 for arm comes with an x86_64 emulator and I was wondering, can it run icinga?
The answer is yes.
Icinga2 x86_64 run on Windows 11 Arm, installed as usual using the powershell framework, with the powershell service and the ifw-api feature.
It works very smooth for the dummy checks, but my question is:
Will there be any official ARM binaries for windows in the future?
I dont think it will happen anytime soon, as the icinga clients have always been aiming for servers. Looking at the Support Matrix, icinga2 is supported only on Windows Server 2016-2025 - but not Windows 11 (on which it does run anyways).
So, i guess there might be official ARM binaries once microsoft decides to release Windows Server ARM.
But as you know, i am not working for icinga, so thats all pure speculatius.
Hey there!
We just had a chat internally and I want to thank you for pointing that out.
It’s something we’re evaluating - Christian just added this to his slides for his OSMC talk
You’ll be there too, right?
