Well, you can’t [Monitoring Basics - Icinga 2](https://icinga.com/docs/icinga-2/latest/doc/03-monitoring-basics/#dependencies). It’s mandatory for host dependencies. If you omit it here, the apply rule will determine the parent host dynamically.
