Is there a way to add a link (or even several) to the details page of a host/service object, like the one that I believe is called ‘extended information’ in nagios? I can think of a lot of things to hide behind such a link, which are more like ‘circumstantial evidence’ - relevant, but not part of the check as such.

not sure what extended information exactly is, but you can set the notes_url and action_url attributes for host/service objects in Icinga 2. This is respected by Icinga Web 2 and rendered as URL.
